Latham started working with our team at Poole Accident Repair in October 2021, bringing with him experience in vehicle repair and restoration. After learning all about classic car restoration, joining Poole Accident Repair to work on more modern vehicles felt like the perfect step further to continue developing his skills within a manufacturer-approved environment.
What is your job title?
My job title is MET Technician (Mechanical, Electrical and Trim Technician).
What does your role involve?
My role involves dismantling vehicles following an accident and reassembling them to strict manufacturer standards. I carefully strip the vehicle, store all parts safely to prevent damage, and then pass it over to the panel department for repairs. Once the panel and paint work is complete, the vehicle comes back to me for refitting. I ensure everything is reassembled to a high standard and carry out ADAS calibrations,
wheel geometries, and full diagnostic scans so the vehicle is returned to the customer in its pre-accident condition.
What did you do before joining Poole Accident Repair?
I’ve always been interested in fixing and repairing vehicles. I started by completing an NVQ in Welding at college before moving to a classic car restoration centre. After gaining experience there, I wanted to work on more modern vehicles and develop my knowledge further, which led me to Poole Accident Repair.
What do you enjoy most about your job role?
Every day brings a fresh challenge. When a heavily damaged car arrives, it takes real focus and organisation to know what’s missing, where everything fits, and how to rebuild it to the highest standard. Seeing a vehicle go from damaged to flawless and handing it back to a happy customer is incredibly rewarding. I enjoy seeing a job through from start to finish.
What is great about working for Poole Accident Repair?
Poole Accident Repair encourages you to progress in your career and supports your development with manufacturer training and qualifications. The working environment is clean and professional, and both management and the team are very supportive. Having the correct manufacturer diagnostic equipment for each brand means we can carry out repairs properly and to the highest standards.
What has been your best experience so far?
One of my best experiences was completing a Porsche 911 Turbo S from start to finish and seeing how happy the customer was with the final result. I’m also very proud of passing my Porsche High Voltage course in 2025. It’s a challenging qualification focused on advanced electrical systems and high-voltage batteries. Completing the course was a huge achievement. In 2024, I also completed my Porsche training, along with Tesla manufacturer training in the Netherlands, which was a fantastic experience.
What are your future career goals?
My future career goals are to continue progressing within the business and working my way up the ladder. I’ve really enjoyed helping to train apprentices, and it’s made me realise that I’d like to contribute more to the management side of the business in the future.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
In my free time, I like to keep busy. My wife and I are currently renovating our home, which has given me the chance to learn new practical skills. I'm also restoring a classic Mini with my dad, and aside from this, I’ve even been learning to play golf.
