Max began his journey with Poole Accident Repair in August 2023, starting an apprenticeship as an MET (Mechanical, Electrical and Trim) Technician. With a strong interest in cars and a desire to build a hands-on career in the automotive industry, the apprenticeship was a natural next step.

Starting the Journey

Before entering the industry, Max worked in hospitality. While he enjoyed the experience, he had always been drawn to the automotive world. When the opportunity arose to start an apprenticeship, it stood out as the perfect way to turn his passion into a long-term career.

Learning the Craft

Max completed his apprenticeship through Solace Training, with training provided by Thatcham Research. His programme included four weeks per year at college, followed by a final assessment, with the majority of his time spent gaining practical, hands-on experience in the workshop at Poole Accident Repair.

Throughout his apprenticeship, he developed his skills on the job while documenting his progress through regular write-ups, helping to track his growth and experience within the role.

Developing His Role

During his training, Max specialised as an MET Technician, learning the essential skills needed to strip and reassemble vehicles safely and efficiently. His responsibilities included understanding vehicle structure, identifying components, and ensuring each stage of the repair process was completed to a high standard.

Now fully qualified, Max has progressed into the role of MET Improver. In his current position, he is responsible for stripping vehicles, coordinating with the team to ensure the correct parts are ordered, and identifying any additional damage once vehicles have been dismantled.

A Supportive Team Environment

For Max, one of the most rewarding aspects of working at Poole Accident Repair is the team itself. He describes the environment as friendly and supportive, with colleagues who are always willing to help and share their knowledge.

He also enjoys the variety of the role, with each day bringing new challenges and different projects to work on, keeping the job both engaging and rewarding.

Looking Ahead

As he continues to build on his experience, Max is focused on progressing further within the industry. His future goals include achieving manufacturer approvals, allowing him to work on specialist brands and continue developing his technical expertise.

Life Outside of Work

Outside of work, Max enjoys staying active and continuing his interest in cars. He spends his free time mountain biking and often works on vehicle repairs independently, further strengthening his skills and passion for the industry.

We are incredibly proud of Max for successfully completing his apprenticeship and progressing into his new role as MET Improver. We look forward to seeing his skills continue to grow as part of the team at Poole Accident Repair.
